Savory Macaroni
Another favorite at the firehouse. From a long time local resident, Louise Robey. Serves ~ 6.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup green pepper, chopped
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/2 cup cooking oil
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 3 cups tomato juice
- 4 pinches salt
- 2 pinches black pepper
- 2 tbsp. worcestershire sauce
Directions:
- Add macaroni, onion, peppers, garlic and cooking oil to a pan/pot and saute w/ low heat for about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally, don’t let it stick.
- Add the beef and cook until meat is brown. Stir throughly.
- Add tomato juice and rest of ingredients. Stir, and bring to a boil with high heat. Cover it, reduce the heat to low, and let it cook for 25-30 minutes. Do not stir.
