Wish List et. al.

October 31, 2005 – 2:45 pm

Alright. So people bugging me for my Christmas list gets old. Quick. I’ve decided to take it to another level. Thank you Amazon.

My Wish List

I think I’ve also decided to give up soda for November. Not sure why, though I blame Charlie.

New AIM viruses are running wild; these are nasty ones containg rootkits and dowloading all sorts of other stuff onto your system. Rule of thumb, don’t click on a link someone sends you through AIM unless you’re expecting it, AND you confirm it’s them sending it, not a bot.

Speaking of computer security, check out Prevx. It has an approach that I like, much more pro-active than doing the stupid thing of relying on virus signatures. I’ve been using it for the past few weeks in addition to a firewall and an antivirus, and it seems to work well. Check it out. It comes ‘Seth recommended’.

It bothers me that you have to be this paranoid about your system if you run Windows and want to keep it clean… but that’s a rant for another day, and another reason I advocate Apple and Linux.

Later folks.
