Textbooks
August 25, 2005 – 2:14 amTextbooks are expensive. Damn hell expensive. I’ve probably paid close to $3000 for textbooks while here at St. Mary’s. I assured myself this would change this semester. I just finished shopping online, and the grand total for books this semester is… $34.08.
How did I do it? Well, there is this wonderful thing called WorldCat and then USMAI. I ordered all my books, except for 3, from various Maryland University libraries. The last 3 I found for pretty cheap on bookfinder.com. That covers 4 classes and 19 books.
Some may ask, well what happens when I have to return the books? Well, I can renew online if need be, and if not, I’ll just get the books when I need them during the semester. Since most of my classes are history, we don’t use the same book the whole semester, we read a book and then are done with it in 2-4 weeks.
Are their flaws in my plan? Probably. Is it still a good idea? Yea, think so. I feel proud of myself.
